Six Worst Telemarketing Calls Ever
Six Worst Telemarketing Calls EverCredit Brian A. Jackson/Shutterstock Warning Some of the videos of bad telemarketing experiences are NSFW.When people hear the word telemarketing, a flood of negative emotions come to mind. Whetherbei its a geschftliches miteinander receiving unwanted sale calls or a telemarketer facing backlash from doing their job, most people dont view telemarketing in a positive light. Its no surprise that telemarketers face skepticism when cold calling, as nearly half of calls to mobile phones in 2019 are expected to be fraudulent.Using telemarketing tafelgeschirrs has its risks given the skepticism of the general public, but there are a few services that excel at outbound calling. If you decide to take the risk of using telemarketing services, finding the best services is critical. To highlight just how important finding a good outbound calling service is to telemarketing success, weve found the six worst telemarketing experiences an d explained how your business can learn from those dreadful calls.1. Lenny tricks frustrated telemarketerAn anonymous IT professional created a chatbot named Lenny designed to keep telemarketers on the phone by rambling on about nothing. The chatbot takes on the personality of an 80-year-old man who discusses just about everything other than the telemarketers talking points. The clip, which comes in at just less than 12 minutes, starts off friendly between both parties. Eventually, the telemarketer becomes frustrated with Lennys inability to focus and asks to speak with someone else in the home. While its understandable that the telemarketer loses her patience, she begins to make insulting remarks, including letting out several Oh my god comments near the 11-minute mark. Luckily for the caller, she was only speaking to a chatbot. If youre seeking a telemarketing service, its important to find a company with good customer service reviews. Cold calling can be a risk, and it can be detri mental to your business if you arent using a service with professional and polite callers.Editors Note Looking for a call center service? We can help you choose the one thats right for you. Use the questionnaire below to have our sister site, BuyerZone, provide you with information from a variety of vendors for free2. Lenny foils scammerWere sticking with our favorite chatbot for No. 2. In this clip, Lenny talks in circles and quickly angers the caller, who appears to be a scammer. After a few minutes, the telemarketers voice raises, and the frustration becomes evident. The highlight of this popular Lenny call comes at the final seconds as the telemarketer shouts at Lenny to shut up. While the experience is certainly negative for the caller himself, his tone and attitude are subpar, even with an unruly customer. If Lenny did happen to be a real person, his experience dealing with the rep was poor.3. Employee falls asleep, makes fake callsFrustration isnt the only reason some telemark eters struggle. For some, laziness is the cause of poor ausverkauf numbers and customer service reviews.I have employed a telemarketer who fell asleep during the day, said Ade Holder, founder of 427 Marketing. He also made fake calls which were only found out when he accidentally hit the speaker button and we could hear the dial tone as he was having a fake conversation. Its clear from Holders description that his former employee really didnt want to work. From sleeping during working hours to making fake phone calls, this guy put a lot of effort into not working. When hiring a telemarketing service, ask the company about the training they provide their employees when making outbound calls.4. Stress leads to medical conditionCalls between Lenny and call center reps are a bit more lighthearted than some of the worst call center stories, including one about a customer service agent who developed a medical condition due to the stress of dealing with customers. With many unknown mobile ca lls turning out to be scams, customers are reasonably hesitant about speaking to telemarketers and answering calls from unfamiliar numbers. Unfortunately, many customers take this concern out on innocent call center workers who may very well be working for a legitimate company and doing their job to the best of their ability. Some companies, including many in Canada, discourage their telemarketers from ending calls, regardless of the nature of the conversation. This practice can lead to telemarketers enduring verbal abuse without any way out of the call. United Steelworkers generated a website and campaign around better protecting Canadian call center workers. If you decide to use a telemarketing service, investigate the practices of that company. Do they treat employees fairly? Will they ensure that no callers endure verbal abuse? If you use a call center with a bad reputation, you may harm your own businesss reputation.5. Comedian pranks telemarketersComedian Jim Florentine pulls a similar stunt to chatbot Lenny in his audio series titled, Terrorizing Telemarketers. In one of his clips, he and a partner write down everything the telemarketer says to them in painstakingly slow fashion. Its clear the hijinks upset the caller, who cannot understand why in the world Florentine and his friend need to scribe every word she says. From an outside perspective, its good fun. From the view of the caller, its an awful experience with an unruly customer. As we found with Lennys examples, the telemarketer quickly gets frustrated with the call. When researching the best telemarketing companies, try to find those with the most polite and professional call service reps. While this situation was a prank, customers may frustrate telemarketers with requests and skepticism. If a call center representative explodes with rage, that reflects poorly on your business.6. Telemarketer handles prank professionallyFlorentine pranked another telemarketer by translating for his friend, who he claimed couldnt speak English. Within a minute of the calls start, its apparent its a prank as Florentine translates English into English. In this case, the experience is terrible for the telemarketer who must sit there as Florentine wastes her time and makes inappropriate comments. On the bright side, she handled the call professionally and is a great example of the type of telemarketer or call center representative youd want representing your business. She clearly explains her role in the situation and politely shares why shell have to hang up the phone if the jokes continue. If your business decides to use a telemarketing service, youd like to find one with representatives who have similar phone skills to the woman on this call.Telemarketing can be a risky proposition in 2019. Many of the potential customers receiving cold calls will doubt your legitimacy. In many cases, this doubt is valid, as scammers call people daily trying to rumliche lage as real businesses. For your telemar keting efforts to pay off, you need to use a service with callers willing to respond to unruly customers as professionally as possible. You dont want to damage your businesss reputation by working with a subpar telemarketing company. Bennett Conlin Bennett is a B2B editorial assistant based in New York City. Hey, Mamas This Program Will Help You Reignite Your Career
Hey, Mamas This Program Will Help You Reignite Your Career YThat sentence is in bold on the website for Young s new returnship program. For individuals seeking to rejoin the workforce, theres leid a more exciting sentence to read. Not only is there a company that is actively looking to train full-time parents and caregivers who want to return to work, but those professionals (who may not have been acting in a professional capacity for a long while) are finally being seen as the untapped potential that they are.Recently, Young & Rubicam Group announced the launch of its career reboot program PowerOn. This 12-week training program offers hands-on experience, training and resources to help individuals kickstart their career and re-enter the workforce.Madeline Park, Chief of Talent and Operations at the Young t get the recognition they deserve. Its time for our industry to embrace this untapped pool of talent, Park said. So often the decision to depart from the workforce to focus on fami ly or childcare unfairly impedes opportunities for growth down the line.A 2010 study by the Center for Talent Innovation found that 31 percent of highly qualified women voluntarily left their jobs for an average of 2.7 years. When women sought to go back to work, only 73 percent of women succeeded in returning to their careers. Of those who were seeking full-time work, only 40 percent of women acquired it.Despite how the above workplace trends disproportionately affect women, Ys PowerOn program is open to both women and men who have left the workforce to care for children and other family members for a minimum of five years. Applicants must have held a management or senior level position prior to leaving the industry. We developed PowerOn to offer a channel for these professionals to come back, Park said. We know these candidates offer an incredible skill set, life experience, diverse points of view and much more.PowerOns program offers an extensive curriculum as well as professional workshops, a speaker series and a wide variety of training sessions. Many of these events will be open to all Young & Rubicam Group employees to promote shared learning and collaboration. If youre looking to return to work and this program sounds like exactly what youre looking for, you can apply here. Applications will be accepted until December 1, 2017.

Employee Spotlight Thales Research Engineer
Employee Spotlight Thales Research Engineer Below is an article originally written by PowerToFly Partner Thales, and published on October 5, 2017. Go to Thales page on PowerToFly to see their open positions and learn more.Engineers find solutions to problems for almost every element of modern life which impacts the way we work and live. Emma Barden does just that. Working as a Senior Research Engineer at Thales Research and Technology, she tells us about her passion for taking things apart, her work at Thales and how we can overcome the skills shortage.Emma the big question what inspired you to get into engineering?I welches one of those kids who collected bugs and was always taking things apart. It was a combination of things I enjoyed, making things work, and applying maths and science. This led to my decision to study Electronic and Communications Engineering at the University of Kent. If you like solving problems, youll most likely fit the profile of an engineer. What made you ap ply for a role at Thales? I chose Thales because of the scope for growth and progression in terms of career. Working in the research field means that I have the ability to cut across into different domains to find solutions for a range of different products, many of which make a massive difference to how we live. I love my role at Thales as I get to be involved with a range of activities for example STEM (science, technology, engineering and maths) outreach is really important to me.What are you currently working on?Im currently working on VHF (very high frequency) radio communications systems for aircraft, which is an existing platform. What Im doing is working on making the hardware smaller, more cost effective, and better to use. What does this technology mean to the end user you and me?If we can make radio systems on tuchs perform better, by making them more efficient, you can allow for more bandwidth to fit in the fun things like a greater selec tion of films to view whilst on board. You wont be compromising the safety of the pilot (and in turn the passengers on the plane). Everyone wants to be able to connect to multiple devices, which arent compatible and so part of my job is to overcome some of the most difficult engineering challenges, which keeps the work interesting What has been your proudest achievement during your career?I am always proud of how much I have learnt, how every day I know a little bit more about how something works or why. Its good to realise when you can about a topic confidently, despite not even having heard of it a few months earlierWhat would be your dream project to work on?Anything involved with changing the world and pushing the boundaries of human knowledge really excites me. Thales pushes boundaries with its research and development we have the ability to create anything smarter, faster, and cheaper. I dont mind what it is, as long as its the cutting edgeWorki ng to increase the number of women in engineering is a key business priority at Thales in the UK. We are continually supporting this initiative across the UK by working closely with local schools, providing inspiring examples of what women do in the engineering industry and demonstrate the different educational routes to get them there. 10 phrases smart people never say
10 phrases smart people never say10 phrases smart people never sayThere are some things you simply never want to say at work. These phrases carry special power They have an uncanny ability to make you look bad even when the words are true. Worst of all, theres no taking them back once they slip out.Im not talking about shocking slips of the tongue, off-color jokes, or politically incorrect faux pas. These arent the only ways to make yourself look bad. Often its the subtle remarks - the ones that paint us as incompetent and unconfident - that do the most damage.Follow Ladders on FlipboardFollow Ladders magazines on Flipboard covering Happiness, Productivity, Job Satisfaction, Neuroscience, and moreNo matter how talented you are or what youve accomplished, there are certain phrases that instantly change the way people see you and can forever cast you in a negative light. These phrases are so loaded with negative implications that they undermine careers in short order. This is the way i ts always been doneTechnology-fueled change is happening so fast that even a six-month-old process could be outdated. Sayingthis is the way its always been donenot only makes you sound lazy and resistant to change, but it could make your boss wonder why you havent tried to improve things on your own. If you really are doing things the way theyve always been done, theres almost certainly a better way.Its not my faultIts never a good idea to cast blame. Be accountable. If you had any role - no matter how small - in whatever went wrong, own it. If not, offer an objective, dispassionate explanation of what happened. Stick to the facts, and let your boss and colleagues draw their own conclusions about whos to blame. The moment you start pointing fingers is the moment people start seeing you as someone who lacks accountability for their actions. This makes people nervous. Some will avoid working with you altogether, and others will strike first and blame you when something goes wrong.I cantI cantisits not my faultstwisted sister. People dont like to hearI cantbecause they think it meansI wont.SayingI cantsuggests that youre not willing to do what it takes to get the job done. If you really cant do something because you truly lack the necessary skills, you need to offer an alternative solution. Instead of saying what youcantdo, say what youcando. For example, instead of saying I cant stay late tonight, say I can come in early tomorrow morning. Will that work? Instead of I cant run those numbers, say I dont yet know how to run that font of analysis. Is there someone who can show me so that I can do it on my own next time? Its not fairEveryone knows that life isnt fair. Sayingits not fairsuggests that you think life is supposed to be fair, which makes you look immature and nave. If you dont want to make yourself look bad, you need to stick to the facts, stay constructive, and leave your interpretation out of it. For instance, you could say, I noticed that you assigned Ann that big project I was hoping for. Would you mind telling me what went into that decision? Id like to know why you thought I wasnt a good fit, so that I can work on improving those skills.Thats not in my job descriptionThis often sarcastic phrase makes you sound as though youre only willing to do the bare extremum required to keep getting a paycheck, which is a bad thing if you like job security. If your boss asks you to do something that you feel is inappropriate for your position (as opposed to morally or ethically inappropriate), the best move is to complete the task eagerly. Later, schedule a conversation with your boss to discuss your role in the company and whether your job description needs an update. This ensures that you avoid looking petty. It also enables you and your boss to develop a long-term understanding of what you should and shouldnt be doing. This may be a silly idea/Im going to ask a stupid questionThese overly passive phrases instantly erode your credibility . Even if you follow these phrases with a great idea, they suggest that you lack confidence, which makes the people youre speaking to lose confidence in you. Dont be your own worst critic. If youre not confident in what youre saying, no one else will be either. And, if you really dont know something, say, I dont have that information right now, but Ill find out and get right back to you.Ill tryJust like the wordthink, trysounds tentative and suggests that you lack confidence in your ability to execute the task. Take full ownership of your capabilities. If youre asked to do something, either commit to doing it or offer an alternative, but dont say that youll try because it sounds like you wont try all that hard. This will only take a minuteSaying that something only takes a minute undermines your skills and gives the impression that you rush through tasks. Unless youre literally going to complete the task in 60 seconds, feel free to say that it wont take long, but dont make it sound a s though the task can be completed any sooner than it can actually be finished.I hate this jobThe brde thing anyone wants to hear at work is someone complaining about how much they hate their job. Doing so labels you as a negative person and brings down the morale of the group. Bosses are quick to catch on to naysayers who drag down morale, and they know that there are always enthusiastic replacements waiting just around the corner.Hes lazy/incompetent/a jerkThere is no upside to making a disparaging remark about a colleague. If your remark is accurate, everybody already knows it, so theres no need to point it out. If your remark is inaccurate, youre the one who ends up looking like a jerk. There will always be rude or incompetent people in any workplace, and chances are that everyone knows who they are. If you dont have the power to help them improve or to fire them, then you have nothing to gain by broadcasting their ineptitude. Announcing your colleagues incompetence comes across as an insecure attempt to make you look better. Your callousness will inevitably come back to haunt you in the form of your coworkers negative opinions of you.Bringing it all togetherThese phrases have a tendency to sneak up on you, so youre going to have to catch yourself until youve solidified the habit ofnotsaying them.Travis Bradberryis the co-author ofEmotional Intelligence 2.0and the cofounder ofTalentSmart. This article first appeared at LinkedIn.You might also enjoyNew neuroscience reveals 4 rituals that will make you happyStrangers know your social class in the first seven words you say, study finds10 lessons from Benjamin Franklins daily schedule that will ersatzdarsteller your productivityThe worst mistakes you can make in an interview, according to 12 CEOs10 habits of mentally strong people

Law school counterpunches
Law school counterpunchesLaw school counterpunchesAs more law firms join the Morgan Lewis bandwagon, canceling their summer associate programs (a development Legal OnRamps Paul Lippe likened to Armageddon), its no doubt satisfying to some students to see one law school strike back, albeit with a blow that is more gesture than jab. As Above the Law reports today, Fordham Law School has banned Reed Smith from its campus for five years because of the firms lack of professionalism in belatedly pulling out of the on-campus recruiting process this year (the firm is still hosting a summer program it just decided not to interview at Fordham to staff it).In related news, Lippe offers more ideas on how law schools might better prepare lawyers for the future. While he makes a number of good points, his premise strikes me as unduly narrow, focused as it is on corporate clientsthats OK if you look at law as exclusively a service industry, but I agree with the comments by Ray Campbell (visiting pr ofessor at Penn State) suggesting that the study of law is in factand should bemore Is being a lawyer just about serving paying clients? Not to diminish the importance of providing awesome service to clients, but I think a lawyers duties are a bit more nuanced than that. You can be a great, client oriented lawyer and keep an eye on the bigger game, but you diminish the profession and short sell what law schools need to do if you take too narrow a view of a lawyers role in society.- posted by vera

5 Signs You Were Meant to be a CEO
5 Signs You Were Meant to be a CEO5 Signs You Were Meant to be a CEOYou are bedrngnis only interested in becoming a CEO one day, you believe you are a CEO today Employers just need to wake up and realize it. But everyone who wants to be a CEO is not CEO material. Here are 5 signs you were meant to be CEO whether you know it or not.First things firstThere is no such thing as, Becoming a successful CEO without doing any work. Many people tried in the past and many learned buying business cards does not make you a CEO. Even if you agree with this list below and think, Hey Thats me the hustle is leise required and very real. You have to put the time in. And when you do, you will have a greater appreciation for your successand career longevity.1. You can execute plans and get resultsWhether it be a lemonade stand, selling cookies for charity, running a fantasy football league, or your first job managing a retail store...the only thing you have ever know is getting results. You know how to create and achieve realistic goals with impressive financial results.2. Motivating people comes easy to youNot everyone has the power to motivate others. Some are great at bossing others around, assigning blame and threatening, but motivating others through fear is a short-lived strategy for success. For some reason, you naturally motivate others in a positive way that keeps people working whether you are present or absent. People are excited to work for you and feel passionate about it. They work hard to make you happy and achieve great results.3. Your curiosity knows no boundsEven though your formal education ended years ago that has not stopped you from learning. You earned certifications, earned a Masters in something, learned a language when you needed toand took a few leadership programs. Why not? Oh...and you traveled, painted, took photography lessons and learned how to sew.True story The previous paragraph references a real-life CEO. Just like the CEO mentioned, you underst and that if you want to do something in your career, then new knowledge must be learned. And you do not mind learning it at all. You will never call yourself a genius. You are just curious and determined.4. You are as confident as you are humbleYou are confident enough to admit No one knows everything. It is a fact, so you keep an open-mind and possess the drive to find the best answers even when the answers are not yours. You are humble enough to admit mistakes and confident people will rise to the occasion, always showing up to do their best work as a result. You are aware that leaders with humility are engaging and give others a sense of identity and purpose.5. You are empathetic and a great communicatorAs a great communicator, you know how to connect and relate to others as human beings, not just a boss. Whether it be an entry-level mailroom clerk or a CFO, you know how to communicate with everyone and clearly communicate without generating confusion. You can manage any departmen t at any time and it does not matter how little you know. You can communicate and relate to others. Why everyone cannot be a CEOIt is said there are three types of CEOThe Small Company CEO who loves the trenches, being hands-on, and establishing identityThe Medium Company CEO who focuses on processes and new priorities for growthThe Large Company CEO who strategizes, develops and maintains corporate cultureAt the end of the day, there are people who are none of the three above. They are neither small team leaders who get their hands dirty nor corporate developers and strategists. Some become CEO simply because they do not like having a boss. Ultimately, as time goes on, those that remain their own boss longer realize it takes more than just wanting to be your own boss to be a CEO.
